OWN Table 1 . Comparative Evaluation of Goat and Baboon Antisera for Measuring CEA in Plasma
نویسندگان
چکیده
The common baboon (Papio), immunized with carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), was found to form specificsite antibodies for CEA. The baboon antiserum does not recognize colon carcinoma antigen-Ill, but does demonstrate similar ionic strength effects to those previously described for goat antisera to the CEA-specific site(s). Baboon specific-site antibody for CEA can be used for radioimmunoassay of CEA in plasma and gives similar results to the commercial (Roche) goat anti-CEA.

Evaluation of chimpanzee antiserum to human carcinoembryonic antigen.
An adult chimpanzee (Pan troglodyte) with an endogenous circulating carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level of 60 ng/ml was immunized s.c. with human CEA. After 1 year of immunizations, the anti-human CEA antibody titer had plateaued. This chimpanzee antiserum demonstrated high avidity specific recognition of human CEA and showed ionic strength effects for CEA recognition similar to those previous...

Preparation of radioantibodies from carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) antisera raised in goats by conventional procedures necessitates extensive absorption procedures to remove antibody activity against CEA-related substances. Further purification by affinity chromatography increases the antibody content of the radiolabeled preparation and enhances antibody uptake by a xenogeneic tumor. In patient...

The immunoperoxidase localization of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) determinants was studied in colonic adenocarcinomas using four murine monoclonal antibodies to CEA in a bridged avidin:biotin technique. One of the monoclonal antibodies, NP-1, recognizes a CEA epitope shared with the nonspecific cross-reacting antigen and meconium antigen. Two others, NP-2 and NP-3, discriminate two separate C...

The use of heat treatment for the removal of non-specific effects in the direct radioimmunoassay of human circulatory CEA has been widely adopted have shown the existence of heat-labile determinants on CEA which may be destroyed by this assay technique. Heat-labile antigens appeared to be shared between CEA isolated from tumour and normal colon whilst the heat-stable antigens appeared to be mor...
